Conceiving a baby successfully means understanding the best conception positions, your monthly reproductive cycle and your overall health. 1. Know your fertile time - in general, ovulation occurs about 14 days before your next period begins. If your have a 30-day cycle, day #16 may be the best time to go for it.
2. Monitor your basal body temperature - the slight elevations in your body temperature when you awake each day signal your most fertile time. When conceiving a baby is the goal, use a basal thermometer that is accurate enough to detect these slight changes in your body temperature.
3. Monitor your cervical mucus - ovulation causes a change in the appearance and consistency of cervical mucus. By checking yourself each day, you’ll be able to see the ‘egg-white-like’ vaginal discharge that indicates ovulation and your most fertile time for conceiving a baby.
4. The best of the conception positions is the missionary position - the time-proven ‘man-on-top’ position works with gravity to encourage semen flow toward the uterus that maximizes the chance of a sperm uniting with the egg, causing conception.
5. Use the rear-entry position - another of the conception positions is the ‘doggy-style’, which allows your partner to deposit semen close to your cervix.
6. Use the side-by-side position - again, this position allows your partner’s sperm to start their journey as near your cervix as is possible. For all three conception positions mentioned, after ejaculation, you can remain on your back with your legs bent a few minutes to further maximize semen flow toward the uterus.
7. Adopt a healthy lifestyle - this is one of the most important tips for conceiving a baby. Healthy living includes a sensible diet, nutritional supplements, adequate quality sleep, managing stress, some exercise and weight management.

Chinese baby names are among some of the most poetic, beautiful names in the world, but they are often confusing to westerners. To begin with, in China, the surname (or family name) comes first, followed by the given, or personal name. So, if John Smith happens to be Chinese, he would refer to himself as Smith John. Furthermore, in China, unlike in the west, there are relatively few surnames, but a huge diversity of given names.
Chinese baby names come from the many thousands of Chinese characters, or graphic word symbols, in existence, so the variety of names is
enormous. Usually, a Chinese given name will consist of two characters, denoting elements, or ideas, such as ‘golden sea’ for a baby boy, or ‘little iris’ for a baby girl. For boys, the characters usually reflect traditional male qualities like strength and endurance, whereas for baby girls, the Chinese name will often be linked to beauty, flowers, refinement, or nature.
In Chinese culture the influence of family is extremely strong. This extends to Chinese baby names. Often, one of the two characters of the given name is shared by all members of a generation within a family. This generational system makes more sense when you realize that it is considered offensive, in China, to name a baby after an older relative. (It is also considered poor taste to name a baby after a well-known public figure or celebrity).
When Chinese babies are born, the parents have a month to register them with the state. In the interim, parents often give the baby a nickname, such as ‘bright star,’ or ‘tiny jewel.’ The nickname, or as it is sometimes called, the ‘milk name,’ may remain with the baby long after childhood!
If you are looking for a two-character Chinese name, be careful not to make the mistake of thinking any character combination will do. While it is true that there are thousands of characters to choose from, not all combinations are appropriate, and some may be very inappropriate! Since the Chinese characters cannot be reproduced in an article such as this, the names have been ‘anglicized’ in the accepted manner. The translation into modern English should not be taken as the only possible definition, since many Chinese characters have several meanings, and there may also be linguistic nuances beyond the scope of this brief survey. Hopefully, these names and definitions will give you a glimpse of the beautiful Chinese language and the role it serves in the creation of Chinese baby names. Following each name, in parentheses, is the meaning of the name.

Just when you think you have a nice amount in the bank, something needs to be repaired or a surprise bill is due, and you’re back to square one. All is not lost, though. By conditioning yourself to a few simple tasks, you may find you can seed some money into a nice little nest egg for later use, helpful if you are planning for a large purchase like a computer, a car or a trip.
Here are some ways you can save money. One is naturally obvious, something you may already do, while another is a bit more unorthodox, but effective.
Using Coupons Effectively
Okay, so maybe you rummage through the Sunday paper each week for the glossy packs of store coupons tucked between the funnies and the local television guide. Each week brings something new and maybe something familiar and oft-used: coupons for diapers, canned goods, ketchup and cleaning products. You clip religiously and shop, yet are still amazed at how much you have spent for the week’s shopping.
As you go through the coupons, think about what you are clipping. You would be surprised to know how often people buy things because they have a coupon. For example, a person might buy a frozen pizza using a fifty-cent off coupon, but what if that person doesn’t normally buy frozen pizza? Is he really saving money? If the pizza is never eaten, that’s money gone to waste! Take a look at your pantry, how many items are there that have been sitting for months on end because you never found desire or occasion to use them?
Consider each coupon as you clip. Is it for an item you truly need, or for an unnecessary luxury? Coupons for candy, for one, might be nice, but if you don’t buy the candy at all that’s money not spent, as well as pounds not gained! Be judicious when you choose your coupons, and you will find you wallet isn’t so light when you leave the store.
Creative Recycling
Once a week you may put out the recycling with the garbage. Old newspapers, empty soda cans, and plastic bottles fill the bin, awaiting a new life as something else that will be bought and thrown away. While recycling may benefit the economy and environment, there are some things you can actually keep and use once more before you can truly thrown them away. Take those old typewritten reports or documents, for one. Instead of tossing them, cut them into quarters and use the blank sides to create a notepad for later use. This will save you the few bucks you’d spend at the store for a pad. And don’t throw out those old peanut butter jars or two-liter soda bottles just yet. If properly cleaned and sanitized, they can be used for later storage of dry goods or drink mixes for the kids. Why buy new containers when you can reuse the ones you already have?
A bit of forethought and know-how can save you pennies on the dollar and keep you from unnecessary purchases. Try some creativity and good judgment today to save for the future.
