We are throwing up two small badges tonight. They are:
- 360voice Motto Love
We were looking at gamertag mottos in the database and noticed 45 people had 360voice in their motto already! So we decided to make a badge to recognize anyone that wanted to do that. All you have to do is have the word "360voice" in your gamertag motto, and you will get this badge during the next processing. Simple enough! To change your motto, click here. (Live login required) It takes at least 24 hours for the change to update and award the badge. - API Ninja
As we continue to expand the API for the site, some people are just cranking out the code. We want to recognize those people that are pushing the envelope and keeping us on our toes, so we created a higher level of the API Samurai badge called API Ninja… There is no criteria to receive this. You simply have to differentiate yourself above the 60 people currently with the API badge… how do you do that? Just get involved… challenge us… help us make the API better. Do that and you will get your just reward.
Nothing huge, but we like to jump in when we can to reward and recognize.
Update 10:01pm CT
Also forgot some small genre updates from Fatty Chubs:
- Puzzle - Added Tiqal
- Social - Added Lost Cities
- Party - Added Wits and Wagers

Capcom’s statistical explosion: life-to-date series and games sales
Sección Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
There are so many little factoids to take from this massive amount of data, we just don’t know where to begin. Capcom has released what seems to be the life-to-date title and series sales figures on all its properties (via Next-Gen). The best-selling series is Resident Evil, with a reported 50 titles and 34.5 million unit sales. Second and third place go to Mega-Man (120 freakin’ titles, 28m sales) and Street Fighter (59 titles, 23m sales), respectively.
The best-selling single game for Capcom has been Street Fighter II, released June 1992 for Super Nintendo / Super Famicom, with 6.3 million units sold. Overall, the company has had 46 titles attain platinum status. The biggest blast-from-the-past reminder for us was the Super Nintendo’s Aladdin at the No. 14 best-selling title with 1.75 million unit sales.

id Software has confirmed it has left the Entertainment Software Association, joining a growing list of recent departures that includes Activision, Vivendi and LucasArts.
The publisher departures follow decisions made by the ESA board surrounding last year’s E3 move to Santa Monica that ultimately cost the association $5 million and necessitated raising its membership dues, as Kotaku reported earlier this week.
Both id and the ESA confirmed the departure; while id Software declined to comment, ESA senior VP of communications and research Rich Taylor responded:
“We can confirm that id Software has decided not to renew its membership in the ESA. We admire their creativity and innovation. We also respect their decision,” he said.
“The ESA continues to lead the thriving video and computer game industry. We are dedicated to protecting intellectual property, preserving First Amendment rights and fostering a beneficial environment for the entire entertainment software industry.”

Ambling into the GameSetWeekend, we’re proud to debut some new GameSetLinks - starting off with some more discussions from the makers of ‘Grand Theft Childhood’ on the new instalment in the series - at least from a theoretical standpoint!
Elsewhere in this particular parcel of joy - Gnome’s Lair talks to a gloriously homebrew adventure game veteran, Boing Boing Gadgets busts out a neat exergaming history, and we learn something useful from Nordic Game, fermentation-wise.
Ready, set, gone:
Grand Theft Childhood Author Weighs in on GTA IV — Open Education
‘This is strikingly similar to the concerns over and editorials against comic books, radio, gangster films and—back in the late 19th century—the evil influence of paperback novels on teenage girls.’
the random Gnomes’ random Lair: ‘a few gnomish questions / The Balrog of Zenobi’
‘Zenobi Software, the Rochdale Balrog, the Cat and the Cockroach were responsible for over two hundred excellent -nay, classic- ZX Spectrum text-adventures’ - interview ensues, the Zenobi site also worth checking for awesome British text adventure oddness!

Zac Efron
Sección Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
It seems like everyone’s crazy about Zac Efron these days.
With the incredible popularity of High School Musical, it was a no brainer that Efron’s popularity would surge as well.
Since I know that you’ve been dying to include Efron in your own Sim adaptation of High School musical, I’ve found for you this version of him. I think it’s pretty true to life and should make a nice addition to your neighborhood.

To celebrate Tuesday’s launch of Age of Conan, Funcom has released the game’s official launch trailer to the teeming internet masses.
Tuesday’s launch was especially notable as it marked the first major MMO launch in recent history that didn’t result in the game’s servers collapsing under the initial player rush.
Though Funcom hasn’t released information on how many players the game has so far accrued, or how many people logged onto the game this week, the performance of AoC during its first few days of life was remarkably smooth. In a genre where massive server failures and horrible, gamebreaking glitches are the expectation, Age of Conan remained solid and playable.
It’s still too early for Funcom to claim victory over its competitors, but it’s certainly doing an excellent job so far.

A recent message from lead designer Jeff Kaplan (Tigole) just made an announcement concerning the bear mount that drops in the 10 man raid dungeon Zul’Aman.
I wanted to give a very early head’s up to all of you Zul’Aman raiders out there:
Once Wrath of the Lich King goes live, you will no longer be able to obtain the Zul’Aman bear mount by saving all 4 prisoners in the timed run. The Bear Mount will be replaced by a very good, epic item that is level appropriate for people doing the zone. To be clear, the Zul’Aman bear mount is supposed to be an item of very high prestige. We want players who have earned it during the appropriate era (aka before the level cap gets raised) to be recognized for their accomplishment. We have absolutely no problem with higher level players (above level 70) going back and doing Zul’Aman after Wrath of the Lich King is live. We just want to preserve the accomplishment of having saved all 4 prisoners at the intended difficulty level.
We will most likely do something similar with the titles “Hand of A’dal” and “Champion of the Naaru” as well.
Please don’t panic! You still have plenty of time to complete these feats! Wrath of the Lich King is coming along great but is not ready yet! In fact, we’re not even in beta yet! So have fun adventuring for your bears and titles but please consider this your early warning. source
I guess everyone should start doing more Zul’Aman to up their chances of getting the bear mount before it stops dropping when the next expansion comes out. Perhaps they should also do the same with the Phoenix epic flying mount that drops from Kael’thas in the Tempest Keep: The Eye raid dungeon since it also seems to be an icon of high prestige.
Update: I just had a strange thought about the bear mount. Isn’t it kinda funny that druids get to ride these bear mounts and also turn into a bear themselves? Of course the bear mount looks way cooler.
